Responsible for supporting the Engineering Department and Product Groups for new product development programs with existing and new suppliers.
Primary Duties:
- Directs and/or participates in continuous improvement activities for existing products.
- Communicates with the Design Engineers, Tooling Engineers and various vendors during the development of the product.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensures that the product being developed meets customer and plant expectations.
- Attend secondary equipment trials to insure safety and quality standards are met.
- Participation as a team member, actively working toward successful implementation and completion of team goals and objectives as directed by Management
- Train suppliers in Dorman's standard processes and methods.
- Develop and prepare reports of progress and analysis of projects as required by Management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or similar.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes; i.e. machining, stamping, casting, injection molding, etc.
- Able to communicate clearly with suppliers and internal team members in regards to technical requirements, terminology, etc.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to learn and adapt to new processes and systems
- Good PC skills including MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Access.
Working Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen.
- Noise level is usually moderate.
